ASL Print FX is a supplier of pressure sensitive labels with three locations: Napa, CA, USA, Toronto, Ontario; and Winston-Salem, NC. As described on the homepage of its website, "For over 50 years, ASL Print FX has been trusted to bring your brand vision to shelf." In order to make this vision a reality, ASL Print FX invested in an MPS EF Symjet 'powered by Domino' hybrid press.
ASL Print FX specializes in prime labels, with expertise in the wine and spirits markets. The company's ability to provide tactile embellishments allows the products to shine on the shelf. Other segments that ASL Print FX works within are food and beverage, health and beauty, packaged goods, on pack promotional and envelopes.
As a company that strives to differentiate itself from the competition, ASL Print FX sought a partnership with MPS and Domino due to the quality and efficiency the press brought to the business.
“We are different because of our culture of innovation, highly trained and knowledgeable workforce, and technology," explains Travis Pollard, vice president and general manager, Napa. "We believe that surrounding great people with new technologies enveloped in a package of service is a great recipe that is hard to compete with. People, technology, service. Our key objectives center around continued growth of our business. We are looking to expand deeper into the markets we currently serve."
"When we looked at starting up our facility in Napa, we looked at multiple technologies and platforms," adds Stacy Daly, vice president and general manager, Toronto. "We knew that hybrid presses combine the best of digital and analog printing. It’s a total solution that gives many options, and both Domino and MPS have outstanding reputations for quality – easy color correction, single-pass production. And the press allows us versatility to compete in several markets at the same time.
"The versatility of the press and the unlimited possibilities (has been the most impressive)," says Daly.
The press, which was installed in 2018, helped ASL Print FX notch a first place TLMI Award in 2020. The company was recognized for its label for Anarchist Wine Company and the brand 15 Minutes of Fame – designed by Jenny Doll from San Francisco. "A lot of hard work went into brand development, and the Domino played key role in the various iterations before the final design was complete," states Pollard.
Due to the success of the hybrid press at its Napa location, ASL Print FX recently purchased a Domino N610i digital UV inkjet label press for its Toronto, Ontario location. The press is slated to be installed in September 2021.
“In all of our markets our customers deserve the highest quality print produced by a team of specialists paying attention to the smallest details to produce the highest quality product," comments Pollard "Our customers demand high-quality labels and rely on tight timelines to meet labeling dates. They require communication and a high level of customer service. Most importantly, they require a printer that works with them closely, as partners, to elevate their brand within the budget.
"Tom Grencik (Domino Digital Print North America service manager) and his team are first class in every way," adds Pollard. "The support we have received has been outstanding.”
ASL Print FX, originally All Stick Label Ltd. 1965, was built on the business of pressure sensitive labels, promotional and package printing. In its first years of operation, the company pushed the envelope through innovation and teamwork, frequently working with brand owners to solve problems with creative solutions.
Daly says, “Our customers and prospects should know that we are here to help them through the whole process. We encourage them to bring us in early on the project and use our services to get the most out of their design. They should know that dealing with ASL is a partnership, we are in this together. We value communication, cooperation, and we share the same end-goal.”
